Paintings by Ron Zweig will be displayed at The Gallery at FCTV from September 3rd
through October 25th.
The public is invited to a reception with the artist on Sunday, September 8th, from 3:00 –5:00 pm.
Ron Zweig, an abstract-to-surreal watercolor artist based in Woods Hole, blends visual and theatrical arts with his expertise in aquatic ecosystem analysis and modeling. His dynamic style captures movement and evolution, creating intricate compositions that connect form and color. Ron explains, “When initiating any form of visual abstraction, the inspiration for what follows often flows from the first image and then moves on to the next, intertwining at times, in a
dance of self-generating ideas.”
Zweig’s artistic journey began in earnest after arriving in Woods Hole in 1974. Alongside his work in neurophysiology at the Marine Biological Laboratory, he became involved with the Woods Hole Theater Company and later focused on aquaculture ecosystem analysis at the New Alchemy Institute. From 1985 to 2012, Zweig worked in Asia with the United Nations and The World Bank, focusing on water resources management and environmental analysis. Returning to Falmouth in 2006, he became active in local governance and environmental initiatives.
Today, Zweig continues to pursue his passion for art, environmental stewardship, and community involvement, with interests in shellfish aquaculture, poetry, and fisheries enhancement in California. His deep connection to the ocean is reflected in both his professional and personal life. “We all emerge from our travels differently from when we began, both physically and emotionally, and hopefully with a deeper understanding of where we are, where we’re going, where we’ve been,” muses Ron. “And, yes, it is this sense of wonder, this thrill of discovery, that keeps me exploring, eager to find where that next path may lead.”
The Gallery at FCTV is located within the Falmouth Community Media Center, which is at 310E Dillingham Ave., easily accessible by Rose Morin Lane.
