Artwork by Deborah Watson and Richard MacCormack will be on display at The Gallery at FCTV from February 5th through February 29th, 2024.
Deborah Watson was born and raised on Cape Cod. With a lineage steeped in artistic talent, her grandmother, mother, and daughter have all shared a passion for the arts.
As a member of the Falmouth Art Center, she finds inspiration in the diverse works of fellow artists.
“While building new friendships, I have learned varied approaches to art from each connection,” says Deborah.
In 2006, she established her business, Charted Mermaids, which features her paintings of mermaids on marine charts, which she transfers to various mediums such as cards, photos, matted and framed pieces, and T-shirts.
Richard MacCormack hails from Norwood, MA. He studied at Mass College of Art and Rhode Island School of Design. Later, he moved to Cape Cod to paint seascapes and objects native to the Cape. He cites influences ranging from 17th-century Dutch-Flemish painters to 20th-century period artists.
Richard also enjoys painting portraits, and his daughters are often a source of inspiration for those. He strives for “painterly illumination” and feels that giving each subject in his paintings the importance they deserve helps articulate and capture the moment. “You must give time to the painting,” Richard claims.
His most recent exhibits were at the Cape Cod Art Association in Dennis, MA, and the Cotuit Center for the Arts in Cotuit, MA. Many of his works are in private collections.
