Congressman Keating at FCTV – Retirement Benefits

September 8, 2022 by falmou6_wp

Falmouth – Falmouth Community Television (FCTV) presents a panel discussion on retirement benefits hosted by U.S. Congressman William Keating of the Massachusetts Ninth District. The program features a distinguished panel of experts from the public and private sectors who provide valuable insight into the current state of retirement security.

“As we look for areas that unite us as a country now, there’s one that stands out – we’re all aging. Whether you’re twenty to eighty, we’re all getting older, and there are more of us every year, in retirement, as we approach this important age,” said Congressman Keating.

The panelists on the program included Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the Secretary’s Representative for Pensions and Retirement at the Department of Labor; Andrew Eschtruth, Associate Director for External Relations at the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College; J. Mark Iwry, Non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution and former Senior Advisor to the US Secretary of the Treasury; and Andrew Schreiner, Senior Vice President, Small Business Retirement, Fidelity Investments.

Topics covered in the discussion include the status and strategies of claiming social security; maintaining 401k, IRA, and pension plans when changing employers; saving for retirement while working for a small business; administering a retirement plan for small companies; how the rules are changing with retirement, medicare and health benefits; retirement complications; suggestions for current retirees; and changes and legislation needed to protect retirement funding for employers, individuals, and families.

“Ask questions. Make sure you’re getting all the answers. Use the resources that are here, and whatever state you are – whether you’re 20 years old and just starting work, someone in their 40’s, or whether you’re already on retirement, stitching together private and public, don’t just assume that there aren’t choices you can make.” recommended Congressman Keating.

The program can be seen on FCTV Government Channel 15 at the following times: Saturday, Sept. 10, at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM; Sunday, Sept. 11, at 10:30 AM and 8:00 PM; and Monday, Sept. 12, at 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM. More scheduled times and on-demand access to the program are available on the FCTV website at www.fctv.org. The program can also be viewed at those times and on-demand on the Falmouth Community Television Apple TV and Roku channels and the Cablecast Screenweave iOS and Android apps. In addition, the program is also available to view on the FCTV YouTube Channel.
