Artworks by Sarah Beach Cristani will be displayed at The Gallery at FCTV from August 10th through September 4th. A reception with the artist will be held Sunday, August 16th, from 3-5 pm.

Sarah Beach Cristani is a Massachusetts-based artist and art educator whose paintings celebrate the beauty found in everyday objects. Working primarily in acrylic, she combines observation with bold color, pattern, and simplified forms to create compositions that balance realism and design. Inspired by memory, family, and the quiet rituals of daily life, her work invites viewers to discover beauty in the familiar. Sarah holds a master’s degree in art education and teaches elementary art while maintaining active studio practice. She is also a member of North River Arts Society in Marshfield.

Sarah explains the title of her show and her artistic influences: “To gather is to collect more than objects. It is to gather memories, moments, places, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. The objects in these paintings have been gathered over time—favorite vessels, flowers, fruit, and familiar keepsakes. Individually they carry their own histories, but together they tell a larger story of home, family, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. These gathered objects become the foundation for exploring color, pattern, and design.”

While rooted in observation, Sarah’s work is less concerned with creating a perfect likeness than with discovering the balance between realism and design. “As I paint, I simplify forms, edit details, and allow decorative patterns to become an active part of the composition,” says Sarah. “Rather than competing with the subject, pattern and color work together to celebrate it. Each painting is edited so that only the most essential information remains, creating a balance between recognizable form and design.”

Over time, her work has evolved from careful observation toward greater simplification, where shape, rhythm, and color carry as much meaning as light and realism. Through this process, she invites viewers to pause, look closely, and discover the beauty, warmth, and quiet significance of the ordinary things that surround us.

The Gallery at FCTV is located within the Falmouth Community Media Center, which is at 310E Dillingham Ave., easily accessible by Rose Morin Lane. FCTV and Gallery Hours: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu: 10-8pm, Fri: 10am-6pm. Sat: Closed, Sun: 12-8pm.
